OSMC (Open Source Media Center) is a free and open source media player based on Linux that lets you play back media from your local network, attached storage and the Internet. OSMC is the leading media center in terms of feature set and community and is based on the Kodi project.
Although OSMC is based on Linux, you don’t need to have any experience with Linux to get it up and running in the way you want. Everything is easily managed through the OSMC interface. OSMC can play all major media formats out there and supports a variety of sharing protocols so you’re guaranteed to be able to stream from other devices. OSMC can stream media and serve files to other devices as well!
OSMC is developed and maintained by a group of volunteers in their own time.
